## Mathematical Quality of Instruction (MQI) Coaching

MQI Coaching aims to improve the quality of math instruction and student learning by providing evidence-based professional learning to math teachers and instructional coaches. Since 2013, we have advanced this mission through ongoing development, research, and services to districts across the country.

### Learn about MQI Coaching

The MQI rubric, though originally designed as a measurement instrument for research, can also be used as a powerful tool to support teachers' growth. The MQI Coaching model, developed as part of an NSF-funded research study, can help teachers improve their mathematics instruction, guided by video-based reflection and the MQI rubric. The MQI Coaching team offers a variety of professional development opportunities, for teachers and for coaches, about how to improve instruction guided by the MQI.

### MQI Coaching

The MQI Coaching model leverages the MQI, a math-specific observation rubric, and classroom video to guide teacher reflection and growth.

### M-Powering Teachers

M-Powering Teachers is an active research project and pilot program that combines traditional math instructional coaching with AI-powered feedback—using natural language processing to analyze classroom talk and help coaches more efficiently support teacher growth and student engagement.
