It was a busy winter at CEPR, as we released the latest edition of the [Education Recovery Scorecard ](https://educationrecoveryscorecard.org/)and [welcomed onboard our new executive director, Dr. Christina Grant](/meet-dr-christina-grant-ceprs-new-executive-director).

As the [Scorecard](https://educationrecoveryscorecard.org/) revealed, the COVID-19 pandemic has had lasting impacts. Students in districts across the country remain behind 2019 levels of achievement in math and reading. [Chronic absenteeism](https://www.attendanceworks.org/rising-tide-of-chronic-absence-challenges-schools/?preview=true) continues to hamper academic recovery, while [student mental health has continued to be a focus ](https://www.the74million.org/article/governors-2024-education-priorities-early-childhood-curriculum-school-choice-mental-health/)of state leaders.
