Andrea Humez is a doctoral student in the education research, measurement, and evaluation program at Boston College's Lynch School of Education. She works with Dr. Heather Hill on the NCTE research study and other projects related to the Mathematical Quality of Instruction observational protocol. Before starting her doctoral work, Andrea worked as a research associate at the Education Development Center (EDC). Her work there included research, evaluation, and development for the ThinkMath! elementary mathematics curriculum and the Fostering Algebraic Thinking Toolkit, a professional development program for middle-school mathematics teachers. At Boston College, Andrea helped to develop the Diagnostic Geometry Assessment tool and analyzed data for the e-Learning for Educators research study, a randomized controlled trial of an online professional development program. She has also worked as a freelance curriculum developer and researcher. Andrea holds an M.Ed. in elementary education from Lesley University and a B.S. from MIT in creative writing.
