The Los Angeles College Promise (LACP) is a comprehensive support system that offers financial, academic, and personal support to first-time-in-college (FTIC) students enrolled full-time in LACCD. LACP students are more likely to enroll full-time, earn more credits, persist longer, and complete a credential in three years than other FTIC students in the district, regardless of whether those students first enrolled full-time or not. LACP students held first-year GPAs steady or saw improvements over the pandemic, while first-year GPAs fell among other FTIC students. While LACP seems to be a promising strategy for promoting student success, additional efforts are underway to further strengthen student persistence within the program.
