How Private Tutoring Centers Impact Student Achievement and Educational Inequality

Private tutoring chains like Kumon and Sylvan have expanded rapidly in recent decades. Goodman and Kitkin’s newly published research investigates which types of families are using these tutoring centers and how the opening of a district's first chain center impacts district-wide math and reading scores, as well as racial achievement gaps. Join us to hear more from Joshua Goodman about how these private investments impact educational inequality and shape outcomes by which state accountability systems and families judge schools.
