An Introduction to NCRERN's Continuous Improvement Model

This brief outlines NCRERN’s Continuous Improvement Model, a structured, data-driven framework designed to help rural school districts identify challenges, implement evidence-based interventions, and evaluate their impact. The model follows a five-step cycle: (1) Understand the Challenge through data review and root cause analysis; (2) Identify Potential Solutions using research evidence and impact-effort analysis; (3) Design & Plan with a human-centered approach to ensure feasibility and stakeholder alignment; (4) Pilot & Test using randomized designs to rigorously evaluate effectiveness; and (5) Examine Findings & Determine Next Steps, where districts decide whether to scale up, revise, or discontinue interventions based on impact and implementation experience.
